Premier League: Bottom club Leicester confirm Nigel Pearson is still manager

eNewsletter

Premier League side Leicester have had to move to deny reports that the club has sacked their manager Nigel Pearson.

Reports circulated in the media on Sunday evening that the club had relieved Pearson of his duties following the sides' 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace at the weekend.

The club have however denied any such reports, with a statement from the club saying that Pearson was still in charge of the club.

"Nigel, his staff and the first team squad are entirely focused on Tuesday night's trip to Arsenal and our continued efforts to secure our position in the Premier League." it said.

The defeat to Palace at the weekend was their third in a row, with only four wins in their 24 Premier League fixtures so far this season.

Pearson is due to give a press conference on Monday afternoon and will have to face strong questions about his future after neither the club chairman or chief executive have commented on the speculation.
