Leeds player Alan Green, currently on loan at Ipswich, set to open new Football Centre this weekend

A new state-of-the-art football centre launched by Championship player Paul Green is opening to the public this weekend.

The A1 Football Factory, based at the A1 Business Park, Knottingley, includes four 3G artificial grass pitches, which will be available to local leagues, teams and social players and will also be available for hire for kids parties.

The purpose built new facility has been built on a site that formerly housed a 52,000 square foot warehouse behind the Turnpike pub.

It aims to suit all football needs and is the brainchild of Republic of Ireland international Paul Green – who is currently on loan with Ipswich Town from Leeds United – along with two business partners, Simon Fletcher and Phil Lindley.

The centre will host leagues and courses starting from Monday, but is celebrating its official opening on Saturday and Sunday with several events planned, including the first Paul Green Cup for teams to play for in a tournament.

Everyone is invited to attend the grand opening and get involved in fun activities and entertainment all weekend, meet professional players and see the brand new venue for themselves.

Tournaments will take place for under 9s on Saturday and for under 14s and men’s teams on Sunday. To register interest, contact http://www.a1footballfactory.com/pages/leagueContact.html or call 01977677721 for a chance to win free entry.

Free one-hour sessions are being given away for this weekend with slots for training or social play. For those who want to be part of the grand opening, text 07821054850.

A new goalkeeping coaching school starts at the A1 Football Factory from Tuesday and for details, contact Lee Kelsey on 07514816282.
