Long term Manchester United transfer target Cesc Fabregas has signed for their Premier League rivals Chelsea, for a fee believed to be in the region of £30m.
Fabregas was subject of a bid from United last season, but was one of several big targets that were not followed through by the club, after having the bid rejected by Barcelona.
The Spanish giants however seem to have changed their stance over the course of last season, and recently confirmed they are willing to listen to offers for the Spanish midfielder.
It was seemingly not in doubt that he would go anywhere but a Premier League club, having played there since he was 16 for Chelsea's London rivals Arsenal.
Arsenal had first refusal on Fabregas, but turned it down as they are looking to strengthen in different areas of the squad.
After signing from Barca as a teenager, he made over 300 appearances for the Gunners, eventually being named club captain, but went back to Barcelona after a long courting process from his former club.
He never quite fulfilled his expectations whilst at the club, and with the acquisition of midfielder Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla imminent, the club were happy for him to go.
He has signed a five year deal and looks likely to be joined by Spanish team mate Diego Costa, whose inevitable move is drawing closer.
