FA Women's Super League side Bristol Academy agree new sponsorship

The FA Women’s Super League (WSL) side Bristol Academy have signed legal expenses insurance firm DAS UK as their main sponsor for the 2014/15 season.

The agreement will see the Bristol-based firm’s logo emblazoned on the front of the Vixens’ playing shirts throughout their FA WSL campaign.

According to the press release the UK£50,000 deal is the largest ever one-year shirt sponsorship to be signed by an independent club in the women’s game.

Paul Asplin, the chief executive of DAS UK Group, commented; “DAS has its headquarters in Bristol and whilst we employ over 700 staff nationally, the majority of our people are based in Bristol, so being involved in our local community is extremely important to us. It is our pleasure to sponsor the Vixens and connect our brand to theirs and the rising popularity of women’s football.”

Bristol Academy WFC’s president Kevin Hamblin added: “We needed a sponsor befitting both the local and national appeal of the club. DAS is a perfect fit and their sponsorship will enable us to develop the club and build on the success we have had. We are delighted to have them on board.”

The agreement follows the most successful season in the side’s history. Under the management of Mark Sampson, now the England women’s national team manager, the side finished second in the 2013 FA WSL and reached the final of the FA Women’s Cup.
