England drop to 17th in FIFA World Rankings

England's FIFA ranking has fallen to it's lowest since 2001.

Their fall comes despite a win against Moldova a week ago and a goalless draw in the Ukraine on Tuesday. Just over a year after England reached 3rd in the world, their highest ever ranking.

Among the other home nations , only Northern Ireland mover up the rankings, where as the rest fell leaving Wales 52nd, the Republic of Ireland 59th and Scotland 63rd, whilst Northern Ireland, rising 23 places, move to 86th.

Spain, the current European and World champions, have now held top spot in the table since September 2011, whilst the rest of the top ten saw plenty of movement, with Argentina moving from 4th to 2nd at the expense of Germany, who now sit in 3rd.

Italy, Belgium, Uruguay and Brazil all moved up, now in 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th respectively.
