Sheffield United announce press conference to unveil new manager, with Nigel Clough looking certain to be behind the curtain

It is widely expected that Nigel Clough will be named as Sheffield United's new manager this afternoon.

The club made a rather hasty announcement on Wednesday morning that they would be unveiling their new manager at 1pm at Brammall Lane.

Former club captain Chris Morgan, who has been on the coaching staff since his retirement, has been in temporary charge since David Weir was sacked earlier this month. Weir left the club after only one win this season.

Since then the Blades have picked up their game somewhat, with a win over Port Vale at the weekend was followed by a draw with promotion contenders Peterborough on Tuesday evening.

Clough parted company with Derby after four years in charge earlier this season.
