Chelsea eased the pressure on Arsenal playing out a 2-2 draw with north London rival Tottenham Hotspur yesterday. Arsenal commercial revenue is heavily weighted towards Champion League football as the club has agreed a new kit deal with Puma worth in excess of £30m per year, according to a national newspaper.
The reported five-year deal represents the largest kit deal in English football and could be worth £170 million over the duration of the contract.
Arsenal’s current deal with Nike is due to end after the 2013-14 season.
Nike is thought to be in negotiations to renew its deal with Manchester United. The Premier League champion’s 13-year kit deal with Nike started in 2002 and was worth £300m
Arsenal recently signed a new deal with Emirates in November worth £150m.
Should Arsenal fail to secure Champions League football next season the "worth" of the club will surely fall.
