Premier League: Reading sack Brian McDermott after poor run of form

 

Reading have announced the sacking of Brian McDermott after four straight defeats left them joint bottom of the Premier League.

A statement released by the club today said "Owner Anton Zingarevich wishes to place on record his thanks to Brian."

"However, in our current situation, Anton Zingarevich felt that a change was necessary."

"The search for a successor will start immediately."

McDermott wil leave Reading after over twelve years since he joined the club as a scout. He worked his work up, coaching the youth and reserve teams before being put in caretaker charge after the departure of Brendan Rodgers to Swansea in 2009.

he was given the job permanently at the start of 2010, and guided the club to promotion last year, but with an immediate return to the championship a real threat, the club have decided to act.
