THE 2014 Scottish Cup final will return to its usual Saturday timeslot, the Scottish Football Association have confirmed.
The governing body released the dates for the forthcoming tournament, which starts with a first round involving teams from the Highland, Lowland, East and South of Scotland leagues, as well as three junior teams – Linlithgow Rose, Culter and Auchinleck Talbot – on September 14.
The 10 League Two sides will enter in the second round on October 5, while Rangers and the rest of League One, plus six teams from the new Championship, begin their campaign on November 2.
The Premiership teams and Dundee, Falkirk, Morton and Livingston enter the competition in the fourth round on November 30, with the semi-finals set for April 12 and 13, and the final on May 17.
The news has been well received north of the border with sponsors William Hill believed to have supported the move back.
Rangers supporter, Hugh Steele told us:
'Common sense has prevailed - tradition is a huge part of our game. I know as lot of fans feel the same way as me.'
