Port Vale mean business with new signings

Football News 24/7
The new owners of Port Vale have wasted no time in backing boss Micky Adams, as the club try to maintain their promotion push. The club only came out of administration at the end of November, and Vale are second behind leaders Gillingham in the table. The sides meet at Priestfield on Saturday in the game of the day in League 2, and a win would see Vale go top.

The club announed last week the return of former international, and club favourite, Chris Birchall. The midfielder, still only 28, has been plying his trade in the MLS but was released last month.

Experienced defender Darren Purse joined today (Monday 7th) from Plymouth - a side Vale thrashed 4-0 at the weekend.

And to cap off a busy few days Vale are rumoured to be signing top marksman Lee Hughes from Notts County. The player is expected at Vale Park on Tuesday to complete the formalities.

Many a side would be pleased with this small group of players being added to their squad, especially in League 2 and it is testimony to the ambitions of the club as they strive for promotion.
