Andre Villas Boas has left Tottenham in the wake of their 5-0 home defeat against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
A brief statement on the club's official website read "The Club can announce that agreement has been reached with Head Coach, Andre Villas-Boas, for the termination of his services. The decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties."
"We wish Andre well for the future. We shall make a further announcement in due course."
How mutual the agreement was remains to be seen considering that Boas last night insisted he would not quit as manager of Spurs despite the 5-0 mauling which left them in seventh place.
That defeat, as well as a 6-0 defeat at Manchester City in recent weeks have raised serious questions about Boas' tenure, as despite still being in the League Cup and winning their Europa League Group, their Premier League form has been indifferent.
