Champions League Group Stage Draw- Manchester City and Arsenal face tough groups, Chelsea and Manchester United given favourable draws

The draw for the Champions League group stages was made this afternoon, with four Premier League sides as well as Celtic in the mix.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal were all part of the top seeded draw, with Manchester City in the dangerous 3rd pot, and Celtic in the 4th.

Chelsea and Manchester United were both given favourable draws, whilst Arsenal, City and Celtic will have hoped for a better luck.

Chelsea had arguably the easiest draw of the sides, with German side Schalke, FC Basel, and Steau Bucharest.

Manchester United were also given a fairly comfortable Group A, with Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Sociadad.

Arsenal were grouped with French club Marseille, but will face a tough test in last years beaten finalist Borussia Dortmund, as well as Italian side Napoli, now managed by Rafa Benitez. Considering Arsenal were one of the top seeds, Arsene Wenger will be disappointed to have drawn such a tough group.

Manchester City were always at risk of being put in a 'group of death', but they will perhaps feel it could have been a lot worse, with current champions Bayern Munich being the main threat. They will also face Russian outfit CSKA Moscow and minnows Viktoria Plzen.

Celtic did not get off quite so lightly, with Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax rounding off their group, meaning that Neil Lennon's side face another massive task to stay at Europe's top table.
