npower League 1 side Tranmere announce new shirt sponsor

Football News 24/7
Tranmere Rovers FC have announced Home Bargains as their new shirt sponsor from next season.

The Liverpool-based store firm signed a three year deal, worth a “substantial six-figure sum” to replace the 24-year arrangement with the club’s current sponsors, Wirral Council, which finishes at the end of the season.

Chairman Peter Johnson said: “This is a fantastic deal for the club and we are thrilled to join forces with such a well-run, successful family company. It is a real coup for the club to have a national company as well-known as Home Bargains as the new shirt sponsor, particularly in these difficult economic times. Football and retail work well together and there are many similarities between Home Bargains and Tranmere Rovers.

“We are both companies who take great pride in supporting our local community and who believe in providing value for money for our customers. This deal gives us the opportunity to work together on community projects in Wirral and beyond.”

Wirral Council provided the longest running shirt sponsors in English football and have supported Tranmere since 1989-90.

Home Bargains boasts over 300 stores across the UK and 20 stores in the local area, including Prenton, Birkenhead, New Brighton and Liscard.

Joe Morris, operations director of Home Bargains, added: “We’re delighted to be in a position to be able to get behind Tranmere Rovers.”

Tranmere have slipped down the table after being in the top six for most of the season and may yet miss out on the play-offs.
