Premier League approach record spend

Premier League clubs have spent £490m in the summer transfer window according to accountancy firm Deloitte's Sports Business Group (SBG).

More than £100 million came in the final 24 hours as clubs closed in on transfer targets.

SBG partner Dan Jones said that it has to be considered in context with the recently-announced 70 per cent increase in broadcasting revenues.

"Once overseas broadcast deals are factored in, the average Premier League club looks set to benefit from at least an additional £25 million of revenue per year from next season," he said.
