Guiness maintain support of Ghana national side

Drinks company Guiness last week gave $500,000 to the Ghanaian Football Association as they continued their long standing sponsorship of the national side.

The company first lent their support to the side in 1998 and have given them their backing for their African Cup of Nations campaigns ever since, with the announcement coming before their Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.

There was also support during the 2010 World Cup, which was held in South Africa. The side went on the progress further than any other African nation, before being eliminated by Uruguay on penalties.

One of the stars of that tournament, Asamoah Gyan, was on hand to accept the money on behalf of his team, whose progression as one of the most exciting teams in Afircan football has surely been buoyed by the continued support of Irish drinks company.
