According to Reuters Newcastle are in discussions with short-term loans company Wonga to become their new shirt sponsor for Club.
The Magpies current deal is thought to be worth £3m per season with Virgin Money and given the scale of other shirt deals announced for Premier League Clubs they have decided to end the current sponsorship at the end of season.
The Manchester United deal with General Motors has set the bar at £345m over seven years.
It is thought the Wonga deal does not include Stadium Naming rights and is sure to court controversy if agreed given the adverse PR short term loan companies have received given the rates of interest charged.
Wonga currently are shirt sponsors for Championship side Blackpool.
The short term loan company declined to comment on the reported Newcastle link but said the company remained committed to working with Blackpool.
