Arena Seating was employed to deliver and install a covered demountable grandstand, which was adapted for a permanent installation specific to the club’s needs. The grandstand prominently features the ‘Red Devils’ trademark club colour with the use of red plastic tiered tip-up seats, red roof covers and red side-drops. It can accommodate 2,145 spectators, running the length of the pitch.
Situated on the ground’s terraced area, which previously held 1,000 standing fans, the new grandstand is part of a major ground refurbishment as the club faces an exciting period of growth which has seen a meteoric 10 year rise from non-league football to securing promotion into npower League 1 this season.
Tony Sainsbury, Arena Seating’s project manager, said: “The grandstand was built on the club’s existing terraced area which required careful planning with the club and construction company to ensure the scaffolding support system fitted over the existing concrete stand. This saved considerable demolition costs and facilitated a much quicker turnaround for the project.
“The grandstand installed at the Broadfield Stadium offers an ideal seating solution for ambitious sports clubs like Crawley Town FC who are looking to increase capacity or improve comfort and experience for fans. This system can be customised to fit most colour schemes, and with a long lifespan offers an economical and cost effective solution.”
The grandstand’s construction started in March 2012 and was completed in April 2012. All work was undertaken in-between games to ensure minimum disruption to the club’s crucial end of season run in.
Alan Williams, chief executive of Crawley Town FC, said: “Arena Seating did a superb job in constructing our grandstand and making it ready for use in less than two weeks. The professionalism of their staff, both on site and behind the scenes, was extremely impressive and we now have a handsome addition to our facilities as we prepare to welcome the likes of Coventry City and Portsmouth to the Broadfield Stadium next season in npower League 1.”
