Bill Newnes has been appointed as Coventry City Ladies chairman with the Women’s Super League in his sight.
Newes, the Ex-Premier League commercial manager, has taken over from Dave Singleton this week and is already targeting new sponsorship to help move the club forward to the next level.
The new chairman has recognised the achievements of Singleton.
"David will be a very difficult act to follow," he said. "I was very flattered to be asked to stand as Chairman but also concerned that Singleton was stepping down.
"He has been the building block of what the club has achieved over the last ten years.
"One of my objectives will be to develop more opportunities for the local community to be involved with the club
"The club is reliant on it sponsors and I would like to thank Peter Moore from Archer Bassett for his continued support.
"But we need new sponsorship to help the club to maintain its current position of being in the women’s national league and our plans for looking at the super league in the future.”
"There is a lot to complete before the end of this season and preparations for the club to be ready for the start of next season."
