The local council has joined forces with League One side Bury FC to agree a new two-year partnership deal that will see the Council logo appear on the team's matchday jerseys from 2012/13 season.
The club, is to expand its award-winning activities in the community, developing new schemes to allow socially excluded, minority and disadvantaged groups to participate in sport. As reported in the Manchester Evening News, the deal is worth £112,000
Mark Catlin, the commercial director at Bury FC, said: "We are delighted to be able to further advance the work that we are already undertaking throughout the Bury area by receiving this backing from the local council. In recent years we have tried to position ourselves as the club of the community, and this new council led agenda further expands on the incredible success that we are currently achieving throughout the town's schools, and specifically targets areas of our community that perhaps have not to date felt able to attend, or interact, with Bury FC."
