Manchester United in Spurs raid

United may use the change of manager at Spurs  to up interest in transfer targets Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, according to speculation in the Sunday press.

It was reported that Welsh winger wizard Bale will leave the club following the departure of Harry Redknapp while Modric has been  tipped to leave White Hart Lane since the end of last season after the failure to secure a move to Chelsea last season.

The lack of Champions League football at Spurs is a factor in Bale’s thinking although the noises made by both Bale and his  agent  has suggested that he was willing to put up with that prospect next season although Redknapp’s sacking last week may have altered his views.

Modric had a £32million price put on him by Spurs earlier this month a figure United boss Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly  dismissed as being too high. Bale would command a fee at least that high and possible higher, something which has put off  Barcelona who were also linked with the Wales international earlier this month.
