Forget Terry, Forget Rangers, proper football is back

Football News 24/7
In a week that has been totally dominated by all that is bad in football - the John Terry trial - the Rangers debacle in particular souring the atmposhere, it is good to get back to some proper action, without the turmoil.

Because of the Olympics, the season proper may not start until 18th August, but many Premier League and Football League clubs are in action as they embark on rigorous pre-season schedules.

Today's fixtures:

Congleton Town vs Crewe
Morecambe vs Everton
AFC W'don vs Reading
Arbroath vs Aberdeen
Ayr United vs Motherwell
Boreham Wood vs Stevenage
Brighouse Town vs FC Halifx
Bromley vs Crawley
Burton Alb vs Aston Villa XI
Clachnacuddin vs Ross Cnty
Cleethorpes Town vs Doncaster
Dundee vs Dundee Utd
Havant and W vs Portsmouth
Hereford vs Yeovil
Heybridge vs Colchester
Hinckley vs Coventry
Radcliffe vs Bury
Southport vs Preston

There will be decent crowds at Morecambe's Globe Arena, where Everton fans have taken up their allocation and Southport's Haig Avenue where Preston are the visitors. The last named two haven't met since a league fixture in the mid 70s and North End fans are sure to swell the gate to see a squad that includes 15 new faces.

Dundee are also expecting a decent gate with neighbours Dundee United literally walking to the fixture.

All we can say - is welcome back to some proper football!
