Liverpool need to add new striker

Another draw against Stoke last Saturday, the seventh at Ainfield this season, and 5 points adrift of 4th place and Champions League football looks a distance away.

Liverpool have scored just 24 goals in 21 Premier League games this season, 32 fewer than leaders Manchester City and with Luis Suarez serving an eight match ban and Andy Carroll 2 goals in 19 games it is not surprising that want away Spurs striker Jermain Defoe has been linked to the Reds during this transfer window.

Spurs may be happy to do a deal for Defoe if they can secure Marseille's Loic Remy and Harry Redknapp travelled to France and saw the striker score twice against Lille on Sunday.

Bruce Grobbelaar though, believes Kenny Dalglish has more exotic strikers in mind than Defoe and claims a deal for a new striker is imminent with a South American who plays in Holland top of the club's wish list. Be nice if he could put a name to his thoughts.

Bayern Munich are reported to be putting together an £8m bid for Dimitar Berbatov but had it not been for the rivalry with his current club would certainly add a more cutting edge to Dalglish's attack.
