For the second time in as many years, Championship side Portsmouth is headed into administration. While playing in the Premier League Portsmouth became the first top-flight side to enter administration (February 2010) and was easily relegated as a result of being stripped of 10 points.
With a 10 point penalty looming again, Portsmouth could face a trip down to League One, as a 10-point drop would put Pompey level with Nottingham Forest and in the relegation zone.
Portsmouth reportedly has an unpaid tax bill of about £1 million and was unable to pay its players and staff last month.
Lack of funds and the looming crisis has not helped things on the pitch, with new boss Michael Appleton unable to spend any money on much needed new faces.
