Former Man City favourite leaves club after less than a month

Football News 24/7
Northwich Victoria may be progressing in the FA Trophy but their problems mount. Not only are they homeless following the sale of their ground but new boss Paul Simpson has already given notice to quit after less than a month at the helm.

The former Man City star has managed the likes of Carlisle, Preston, Shrewsbury and Stockport in recent seasons with varying degrees of success.

On the club's official website is simply said:

'It is with regret that the Club must inform our loyal supporters, that due to commitments in Portugal, Paul Simpson will be leaving the Club to start a new role in Portugal.

'Paul's final game in charge will be against Newport in Saturday's FA Trophy quarter final.

'We were aware the opportunity was their for Paul at the end of this season, but unfortunately for Northwich Victoria, Paul has been asked to start in March.

'It's with sadness that we let him go but the Club would like to thank him for his services in the short time he has been with us. We have already learnt a lot from his professionalism and are very grateful for him coming in to bridge the gap. We would like to wish Paul every success in his new venture.'

Meanwhile Northwich will take on Rushall Olympic in the Doodson Sport Cup Quarter Final on Tuesday 21st February at Kidsgrove Athletic's ground, The Seddon Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:45pm.

The following Saturday, 25th February, Northwich will face Newport County in the FA Trophy Quarter Final at the Moss Rose stadium in Macclesfield. Kickoff is at 3pm.

Every game is an away day for loyal fans at the moment!
