English football had a boost yesterday when the U16s won 1-0 in Madrid against Spain with the Euro 2012 tournament in June 2012 coming up for the seniors.
Kenny Swain's Young Lions put in a competent performance matching their hosts for the majority of a game with relatively few chances. England enjoyed the better of the first 40 minutes before the hosts shaded the second half but Spain couldn't do anything to prevent England's last minute winner through Everton debutant George Green, who had been introduced as a second-half substitute.
Shrewsbury Town Youth Goalkeeper, Callum Burton also played the second half making his debut in the victory. Burton wore Reusch gloves and is in the process of signing a contract with the club.
Town goalkeeping coach Gavin Ward said ""Apparently he made two or three good saves, good stops, and one was very crucial.
The Young Lion is one of a growing number of up and coming goalkeepers that use Reusch gloves. Burton will now hope to keep his place in the England U16s for the Montaigu Tournament in France in late March and early April after the clean sheet.
