A French street theatre company brought three giant marionettes, a 50ft man, a 30ft girl, and a 9ft dog, called Xolo, to entertain an estimated crowd of 600,000 people enacting the Titanic disaster last weekend. Willow catering, the Premier League caterers, was involved in providing catering for the visitors.
“It was a fantastic weekend and the show was spectacular. We were happy to help out,” said Phil Brown, Willow Catering Director.
Visitors travelled from all over the country to see the French puppet company and although the weather was miserable it didn’t seem to put people off. Spectators arrived early morning to get in position for the waking of the puppets and families weathered the conditions to see the Giant little girl and Uncle “walk” through the town centre.
“It was amazing to see the work that went into handling the puppets and it looked like it took a team of at least 30 men to work the uncle puppet.” said Phil Brown.
Willow catering vans were close enough to some of the puppets at times to be absorbed by the special atmosphere created by the French puppeteers.
