The failure of Stockport County's shareholders to agree to a deal that would have seen a consortium led by Tony Evans taking a majority stake in the club has led to his resignation as a director of the club.
"I worked tirelessly and passionately to conclude this deal," said Tony.
"I'm extremely disappointed to be leaving as I continue to believe that the club can have a strong future, both on and off the pitch.
"Most of the club's loyal fans have shown me fantastic support and I thank every one of them for the way that they welcomed me into their club.
"I wish the club and everyone connected with it every success in the future."
