Oldham re-sign director

Mike Newton has re-joined the Oldham Board following on from the club's £5.7m deal agreed with Oldham Council in August, which saw it abandon plans to move into a new council-owned stadium on land in Failsworth in favour of a redevelopment of Boundary Park.

The New York-based trader who walked away from Oldham Athletic's board in 2009 in frustration reportedly held talks about potential takeovers at Port Vale and at Stockport County.

Oldham Athletic accounts for 2010 showed that its net liabilities widened by £800,000 to £5.4m at its year end.
