The company, one of the fastest-growing businesses in Oldham, has agreed a package for ground advertising and hospitality. They are also keen to explore other initiatives with the football club.
Chief Executive Craig Dean believes it is important the firm embraces the local community and sees teaming up with Latics as the perfect way to achieve this objective.
“We are proud of our heritage in Oldham and want to work in the community and this partnership with Latics will enable us to do that,” he explained.
Mr Dean is heavily involved in the community as he is President of Oldham Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Governors at Oasis Academy and also on the Governors at Oldham College and Waterhead Academy.
The company, which provides web-based technology throughout the travel industry with the likes of Hoseasons Group and Holidaybreak among their big client base, has had managed growth from just a handful of staff to the current 70 employees.
Web Applications UK, who are already involved working in local schools, also has ambitious plans to expand which includes a £500,000 investment in an Examination Centre which is due to open next month.
They are also set to launch a series of IT training courses in early 2012 and are looking for 1,200 adults each year to go through this Centre of Excellence.
Looking further ahead they are hoping to offer apprenticeship, increased IT literacy for the over-50’s through ‘Silver Surfer’ training and raising the profile of IT as a career choice.
Latics Chief Executive Alan Hardy said,
“It has been a pleasure to sit down with Craig and put together this partnership package which I am sure will benefit both organisations. Web Applications philosophy is to invest in the local community and obviously they view Oldham Athletic as a major player within the Oldham Borough. We hope there are many more local companies who can see the benefits of being involved in their local football club”.
