While Fulham excelled in the Europa Cup in midweek a team of under-sevens were celebrating a sponsorship success courtesy of one of the oldest professional football clubs in London.
The Cottagers have agreed to sponsor Thrapston Town Juniors, providing kits and match day tickets, after Thrapston’s boss Mike Bell brokered the deal.
Bell said: “It’s going to be good for Fulham; it’s going to be good for the players; how about getting my team in the Fulham kit.”
Catherine Blackman, whose son Oscar is the goalie, said: “They think it’s brilliant that a big name team is something to do with their little club.”
One parent did have misgivings Judith Warren who washes the kit explained “I’d rather it wasn’t white.”
