FC United plans approved by Council

A brief one line statement on the club website broke the news every fan had been hoping for.

'FC United is pleased to announce that Manchester City Council Planning Department approved the plans for our ground development at Lightbowne Road in Moston, at a meeting held this afternoon. More details to follow.

The plans are for a new 5,000-seater stadium for Manchester United's breakaway club. FC United had submitted plans for a stadium, club house, pitches and car parking at Ronald Johnson playing fields in Moston, Manchester.

The 5,000 capacity ground would cost around £3.5m.and is within a mile or so of Man City's Etihad Stadium and right in the heart of the City. The Evostik North side currently share Gigg lane with Football League side Bury.
