Notts County Football Club has launched a ladies team which will compete in the Notts Girls and Ladies Football League from next season.
Local side Linby Ladies will play under the club’s banner after chairman Andrew Eastwood approached the npower League One side with the idea.
Speaking to the club’s official site, Eastwood said: "I approached the club a few seasons back, when Sven was here and it didn't happen. But meetings have progressed and I am really chuffed.
"For me personally being a lifelong Notts fan, as is my father and grandfather, to be linked to a professional football club and the name. I know the girls are really excited to wear the badge and the kit.
"Women's football is growing all the time."
The ladies side have a new badge and will play in the same kit as the Notts County men’s first team.
