Blades chief executive to step down following Adams sacking

Trevor Birch is to step down as chief executive of Sheffield United Football Club following relegation to npower League One.

Birch’s resignation follows the sacking of manager Micky Adams on Monday night, although Birch will remain as a consultant to the club over the next couple of months to help with ‘player trading, as well as the reorganisation and re-shaping of the club’.

Commenting on the decision Blades chairman Kevin McCabe said: "Trevor's considerable contacts and experience will help us as we re-shape the football club and focus on our transfer dealings."
