The term ‘Total Football’ was invented by the great Dutch teams of the early ‘70s and spawned a new way of thinking about how the beautiful game is played.
And now it is the inspiration behind the most forward-thinking and innovative football event ever staged in Britain – The Total Football Show 2011.
The three-day extravaganza will launch at the prestigious Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire from the 8-10 July 2011.
For the first time ever, the show will provide a platform for talented youngsters, right up to the age of 16 to display their skills in front of professional coaches and scouts.
There will be two major tournaments showcasing young talent from some of the UK’s finest academy teams plus the best-of-the-best of the UK’s grass roots clubs.
An interactive goalkeeping ‘zone’ is another first for the show and there will also be dedicated events, seminars, displays plus innovative product and service exhibitions tailored to every aspect of the ‘beautiful game’ and open to participation - including freestyle, street soccer, women’s football and hi-tech coaching and training.
Lilleshall is one of Sport England’s national sports centres, which provide world-class facilities for both elite and community sport. Lilleshall’s general manager, Lee Moore, said: "We are extremely proud of the world-beating sports facilities on offer at Lilleshall and are delighted that the organisers of the Total Football Show have chosen Lilleshall as the venue for this exciting new fixture in the football calendar.
"This is a centre of excellence for over 30 different sports and organisations and some of the biggest names in football have passed through our doors, from England’s 1966 World Cup winning team to current England players."
Richard Swift, marketing director of The Total Football Show said: "The title of the show says it all. For the first time ever it will bring together people and organisations from every corner of the game and provide a real showcase for young talent, professionals, trade and all levels of club management.
"Our research has shown that there is a latent demand for this new approach and after only two weeks of announcing we are receiving very high levels of support from an array of football organisations, commercial partners and suppliers who share our passion for this ground breaking new event."
A full press launch is planned for March when further exciting attractions and big names in football will be announced.
