New chairman for Rushden as Calder resigns

Rushden & Diamonds Football Club has announced Liam Beasant as its new chairman following the resignation of Gary Calder.

Outgoing Calder had only been with the Blue Square Bet Premier side since December, whilst Beasant moves from his role as vice president.

The Nene Park outfit has also appointed Steve Beasant as chief executive officer.

A statement on the club’s official website read: "Rushden & Diamonds chairman Gary Calder has resigned from the football club with immediate effect.

"Calder wishes the club all the very best in the future on their quest of getting back into the Football League."

It is yet to be confirmed whether Calder has sold his shares within the club.
