Wigan Athletic have secured a two-year shirt sponsorship deal with Isle of Man based online gaming company 12Bet.com.
Whilst the financial details of the deal have not been revealed it has been described by the Greater Manchester club as “the most lucrative shirt sponsorship in the club’s history”. The deal sees 12Bet replace gaming rival 188Bet as the club's main sponsor and official betting and gaming partner, 12Bet will also receive prominent branding at Wigan's DW Stadium.
"We are really pleased to have agreed this major new commercial partnership,” said Neil Ryan, head of marketing at Wigan Athletic.
“To have secured such a substantial fee from a high-profile brand like 12Bet demonstrates clearly where the club is going and we are looking forward to working with them to achieve our collective objectives over the next two years.”
Rory Anderson, chief executive of 12Bet, added: “We are delighted to join forces with Wigan Athletic – a sponsorship that will give us great exposure both in the UK and globally, providing the perfect platform to promote our core proposition; in-play football betting.”
12Bet had previously sponsored La Liga side Seville but were forced to withdraw their sponsorship due to a change in the legislation on betting advertising.
