Plymouth secure shirt sponsor despite uncertain future

Plymouth Argyle have secured a new shirt sponsor for the 2011/12 campaign, despite not officially having a shirt to put the sponsor on!

The cash-strapped south coast club have had an uncertain summer with the shadow of administration looming large at Home Park. But there has been some good news this week with local agricultural services company WH Bond making a commitment to the club as shirt sponsor.

The one-year-deal will initially see WH Bond's branding on the club's Puma shirts, though that may change as the Pilgrims have yet to agree a kit deal for next season.

Chris Bond, director of WH Bond, said: "I thought that we could do our bit to help the club and put some sponsorship in. I'm about to start my 32nd season watching the club and I never thought all that time ago I would one day see my company's logo on the team shirt.
He added: “It gives me a bit of a thrill, actually, that on a Tuesday night match 300 miles away from home, our supporters will be able to watch the team run out with our name on it. It will be a proud moment.”
Argyle manager Peter Reid said: "Everything that has happened over the past several months has been disappointing, but hopefully this is part of a new start."
