Non-league side face cash crisis as sponsorship deal collapses

A north-east non-league football club could face a cash crisis after a major sponsor withdrew £5,000 of funding.

Tow Law Town AFC play in the Northern Football League Division One and after finishing 18th last season were hoping for a more ambitious 2011/12 campaign. But the team known as 'The Lawyers' have made a desperate plea for new sponsors after Bodywork Direct were unable to commit to funding for the new campaign due to a restructuring of the business.

Speaking in the Wear Valley Mercury Club Secretary Steve Moralee said: "The current economic climate means that it is more and more difficult to run grassroots sports clubs for the community and the loss of sponsorship will be a blow to club finances, but everyone involved intends to pull together."

Tow Law AFC is a Community Amateur Sports Club and holds FA Charter Standard status.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the club or becoming a member should contact Steve on 07810238731, Kevin on 07733884661 or the clubhouse on 01388 731443.
