Wrexham FC owners agree sale

Wrexham Football Club is to be sold to Van Morton Investments Ltd after a deal was struck with Wrexham Village Ltd.

The agreement also allows the group to purchase the Blue Square Bet Premier side’s stadium and training ground in the future.

Chairman Ian Roberts and director Geoff Moss will be leaving the club’s board with Robert Bickerton taking the role of chairman with Tony Allan chief executive.

Bickerton has previously worked on the board of directors at Macclesfield Town in the roles of finance director and chairman, and also on the board of directors of Shrewsbury Town as manager director.

A statement on the club’s official site read: "Van Morton Investments is a recently formed company, the purpose of which is to attract and provide Wrexham FC with funding.

"All parties will work towards a smooth transition in change of ownership and ensure that nothing prevents the continued good work of the team, management and staff."
