Safety risk concern for Aberdeen stadium

Grampian Police has raised issues over a potential traffic risk at Aberdeen Football Club’s planned new stadium.

The concerns come ahead of a hearing into the Don’s plans next week regarding the 21,000 seater ground at Loriston Loch.

Grampian Police are worried about fans, who may have been drinking, walking close to the Wellington Road dual carriageway and that a 30mph temporary speed limit should be considered.

After the hearing, the application will be reviewed and a report prepared for the city council.

Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne recently stressed the importance of a new stadium to the club at Aberdeen’s AGM.

"This stadium [Pittodrie] has a limited life and every year we stay here it costs us a lot of money. That’s just going to continue to increase. At some point we have got to make the move," Milne said.
