Cambridge City secure Milton Road future

Cambridge City Football Club has reached an agreement with its landlords to stay at its Milton Road ground until May 2013.

The Zamaretto League Premier Division side’s future at the ground had been placed in doubt after a housing planning application was submitted to Cambridge County Council.

But the club has secured its short term future at the ground and has struck a deal with Newmarket Town FC to ground share once the club’s lease at Milton Road expires.

On the singing of the new lease chairman Kevin Satchell said: "We are delighted we have been able to agree an extension on the lease at Milton Road. The discussions with our landlords have been positive throughout and I was always confident we could come to an agreement. This extension strengthens our position for when we ultimately move.

"Newmarket have recognised that City would find it hard to turn down any possibility of extending our stay at Milton Road. They really could not have been more helpful to us and we remain grateful to them for their understanding in this matter."

A statement on the club’s site also confirmed that the club is continuing to explore ground options to find a permanent home.
