Npower Championship side Sheffield United Football Club has appointed Dave McCarthy as its new head of operations.
McCarthy is the latest recruit in chief executive Trevor Birch’s management restructure joining head of commercial Steve Lewis and chief financial officer David Harrop and will have responsibility for day-to-day operations including all areas of the Bramall Lane stadium, the Blades Superstore and the Blades Academy.
Dave said: "I'm looking forward to playing my part in making Sheffield United the best run football club in the Championship. As a supporter I know what it's like to come to matches at Bramall Lane. It will be my job to make sure that the experience fans have here is as enjoyable as possible.
McCarthy said: "I will be working with Steve Lewis and Richard Batho, recently appointed as fan liaison officer, to be as proactive as possible in all areas of the stadium.
"Every contact supporters have with the club needs to be right and we will work as hard as possible to build a successful and long-lasting relationship with them.
"I also want to build on Bramall Lane's important position as a central part of the local community and expand our relationship with local sporting clubs, such as the Sheffield Eagles."
Chief executive Trevor Birch added: "Dave brings valuable football experience to the club. He is well-known locally, a Blade and will add a new dimension to off the field operations at Bramall Lane."
