Cambridge United Football Club has landed a five year stadium naming rights deal with law firm R Costings.
The agreement will see the Blue Square Bet Premier side’s stadium named the R Costings Abbey Stadium with the U’s, currently for sale, receiving a ‘significant increase’ in income year on year during the deal.
Commercial executive Claudine Bone said: "This really is fantastic news for the football club at a vital time. The length of the contract offers the club security going forwards and R Costings have been a pleasure to work with.
"We are committed to working with them on a number of projects over the coming months and years, determined to reward their support and commitment to the club."
Paul Reason, managing director from R Costings added: "We are delighted to be able to extend our partnership with Cambridge United and support the club and the wide ranging work they do in the local community.
"All too often, when a football club 'sells' the naming rights to its stadium, the traditional name is dropped and so when we negotiated the original sponsorship deal almost two years ago, I was very keen for the spiritual name 'Abbey' to be reinstated.
"I think this has been appreciated by the fans and club alike. Now we are very pleased to pledge our commitment to the club for the next five seasons and as both sponsors and supporters of Cambridge United and look forward with excitement to further achievements and success at the R Costings Abbey Stadium."
The new deal will run until the 2015/16 season.
