The Ryman Isthmian Football League has called an extraordinary general meeting in which it will ask members clubs to expel Leyton Football Club.
The decision comes after Leyton director Louise Sophocleous contacted the league to confirm that the team was to be withdrawn only for the league to refuse the resignation after Sophocleus wished to keep one of the club’s teams in the youth league.
Leyton is currently suspended after failing to pay the league its subscription. A statement on the Ryman League website read: "The board have decided, having taken all matters into consideration, that Article 8 be applied and that an extraordinary general meeting is called for 20 February 2011 to put a special resolution to all member clubs that Leyton FC be expelled from the league.
"In accordance with that Article, the club remain in suspension until such time as the General Meeting takes place.
"The League do not propose to issue a further statement until after the General Meeting has been held."
