Manchester United Football Club and Qatar Holding have ended ongoing speculation over a potential takeover of the Barclays Premier League club with statements from both parties.
In a statement to news agency Reuters, a source from Qatar Holdings categorically denied talks had been held over a £1.5bn takeover from current owners the Glazer family.
"Qatar Holding is not and has never been in discussions to buy Manchester United football club. There is no truth to the rumours," a source within the company told Reuters.
Manchester United reinforced the sentiment through a club spokesman.
"We are aware of the report, which merely underlines what we have been saying about the club for months - that it is not for sale," a spokesman told ESPNSoccernet.
"Let us make it perfectly clear; there have not been any talks, there have not been any approaches, and any approaches would not be welcome. Again, all we can say is that this club is not for sale."
