Portsmouth Football Club could be set to be taken over by a Russian consortium who failed in a bid for Bournemouth last summer.
Convers Sport Initiative (CSI) has held initial talks with the npower Championship side but also revealed it had held talks with ‘several’ other clubs who weren’t named.
Speaking to The Portsmouth News CSI owner Chris Akers said: "We've held talks with several clubs, including Portsmouth FC.
"However we cannot comment any further on the status of these negotiations."
Vladimir Antonov, chairman of CSV, added: “"If we do acquire control of a football club, we will dedicate our collective knowledge, skills, contacts and appropriate resources to make the chosen football club successful. This will always be our priority.
"This accumulated experience and knowledge will benefit the selected football club, its players, employees and partners involved, but most of all - the club's loyal fans and the community."
Pompey chairman Balram Chainrai has previously said he is not the man to take the club forward long term.
