The Keele International Cup is now accepting entries for its Open Tournament with competitions that are available to boys and girls club teams from throughout the UK and overseas.
The Open tournament begins on July 27th and ends on 30th July. Already entries are moving quickly towards 2010 level, when over 20 countries were attracted to the University of Keele’s fine playing fields and modern accommodation. There are Open competitions for all age groups from under 11 (2003) to under 17 (1992).
These open events will be held in parallel with professional-level competitions which are bringing top overseas teams and well known UK clubs to Keele. The pro-level competitions run from July 25th to 29th. Despite doubling the number of pro-level age groups for 2011 and now offering age group competitions from under 9 to under 17 available slots are filling fast with teams from the Premier League, Championship, Football League, Welsh Premier, Scottish, Irish and overseas countries.
The Keele International includes various girls competitions in its youth tournament. In 2011 the Keele event will offer competitions for this season’s (2010-11) under 13, 14, 17 age groups. These are open competitions and will include teams from England, the rest of the UK and overseas. The 2010 finalists were FK Lyn (Norway), CASL (USA), Falkirk (Scotland) and CYP (Wales).
Teams not only enjoy football at a superb facility, but can make visits to great stadia, perhaps take in a match, visit top attractions like Waterworld and Alton Towers, make shopping trips or just enjoy sightseeing in the area’s historic towns and castles.
