JD SPORTS is looking to aggressively expand in France taking on more than 100 new stores.
Cushman & Wakefield has been exclusively retained by JD Sports to secure high street and shopping centre locations for stores of 4,300 sq ft to 10,700 sq ft.
Bury-based JD Sports already has 75 stores across France following its acquisition of Chausport in 2009 and expects to increase its presence to around 200 stores. The retailer currently trades from around 500 stores across its entire portfolio.
Nigel Keen, group property director at JD Sports, said: "We are targeting the main urban areas across France to build upon the successful opening of three trial stores in Lille, Paris (Evry 2) and Lyons."
Mark Barrett, associate in the cross-border retail team of Cushman & Wakefield, added: "JD Sports has consolidated its position as the leading UK retailer of sports and casual wear in recent years and is in a strong position financially to now expand into France."
