Stadium joy for Wessex Football League side

Poole Town Football Club has gained permission for a new £2m ground after its proposal was initially rejected by councillors.

Town, who are top of the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) and set for promotion to the Ryman League, now need to find the funds for the project which the club anticipates will take around 18 months.

"Our search for a new home has seen many false dawns," the club’s commercial manager and director Mark Bumford told the Bournemouth Echo.

"But against all the odds our club has flourished. We expected the decision to be close. I’m delighted.  The hard work starts here and there will be further hurdles yet," Mr Bumford added.

"We’ll be playing the whole of next season at Tatnam, and potentially the season after."
