Stockport County Football Club has appointed former professional footballer Graham Shaw as its new chief executive officer.
Shaw, whose clubs included Stoke City and Preston North End, has been working in sports law and initially drew the attention of County’s board during takeover negotiations with Mike Newton before talks broke down.
Shaw had been expected to take on the role of CEO had Newton’s takeover gone ahead.
On his appointment with the npower League Two side, Shaw said: "I am absolutely delighted and honoured that the directors and shareholders have offered me this position at such a highly regarded and prestigious club.
"I am really looking forward to working with both the existing management and the supporters to bring renewed prosperity to the club in the forthcoming season and beyond."
